4 DAY PROGRAMME

DAY 1:     THE RIVER OF GOD

Session 1:

Encountering God in the river

  • Surrendering our lives to Jesus

  • Hearing the voice of the Father

  • Becoming a landing place for the Holy Spirit

In this session, we will look at Jesus' baptism and end with an invitation to come into God's river

Session 2:

A river that brings life and healing

We will focus on the river that runs through the city, paying specific attention to:

  • The significance of the river in the history of the city

  • Where the city draws its life from today

  • What it would mean for the river of God to flow through this city

Session 3:

Prayer walking the river

This session will include a prayer walk along the river that runs through the city

DAY 2:   SURRENDERING TO JESUS

Session 1:

Four Gospels but one Jesus

We will look at what the early church fathers’ saw as four images of Christ in Ezekiel 1 – the face of a man / the face of a lion / the face of an ox / the face of an eagle – and relate this to Jesus in the New Testament and our own image of Jesus.

Session 2:

Living in the power of Jesus’ resurrection

In this session, we will explore the life of Elisha and his interaction with the school of the prophets. If Elijah is a type of Christ, could Elisha be a type of the church living in the power of Jesus’ resurrection

Session 3:

Underground

We will visit an underground venue (old wine cellar, air-raid shelter, church crypt...). Jesus went underground for us. What does it mean for us to go underground for him - dying to self and becoming alive in Christ

 

Session 4:

Rooftop

We will walk out onto a rooftop overlooking the city and ask Jesus to help us see the city and the people in the city as he sees them. We will also consider the significance of Peter’s rooftop experience in Acts 10

DAY 3:   HEARING THE VOICE OF THE FATHER

Session 1:

Having a fresh encounter of the Father's love

Through exploring the story Jesus told about a father who had two sons (Luke 15), we will explore how amazing our heavenly Father is.

  • The Father initiates

  • The Father runs

  • The Father restores

Session 2:

Hindrances to knowing the Father

We will explore some of the hindrances to knowing the Father:

  • Having a wrong image of Father

  • Having a wrong image of ourselves

  • Unforgiveness

  • False comforts

This session will end with an opportunity to receive prayer

Session 3:

Who should have gone?

In Luke 15 Jesus tells 3 stories - 1) A shepherd searches for a lost sheep: 2) A woman searches for a lost coin: 3) No one goes in search for a lost son! We will explore who should have gone, and why?

Session 4:

Taking the love of the Father to the lost

This session is a practical session where we will be demonstrating the love of the Father in the community

Session 5:

Discipleship groups

DAY 4:   BECOMING A LANDING PLACE FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT

Session 1:

A baptism of fire

What does it mean to be led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit and to leave the wilderness full of the power of the Holy Spirit. The session will end with an opportunity to be prayed for to be filled/refilled with the Holy Spirit

Session 2:

The gifts of the Holy Spirit. This will be a practical workshop on using the gifts of:the Holy Spirit, with a specific emphasis on:

  • Prophecy

  • Words of knowledge

  • Healing

Session 3:

Demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit in the community

This is a practical session where we will be stepping out in faith and putting into practice what we have learnt

Session 4:

Discipleship groups

Session 5:

Soaking in God's river

Session 6: (This is the only evening session)

YOUR FATHER INVITES YOU TO A BANQUET

Final meal together + testimonies, final thoughts and taking up an offering
