About the RIVER
The RIVER is a 4-day experience centred around the moment when Jesus walked into the water to be baptised by his cousin John.
This moment marked the beginning of the most amazing three years that anyone has ever lived on this earth - three years that has literally turned the world upside down.
The invitation to come deeper into God's river has been extended to us, where we too can have our own fresh encounter with the whole of God - Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit:
Day 1: Stepping into God's river
Day 2: Surrendering our lives to Jesus
Day 3: Hearing the voice of the Father
Day 4: Becoming a landing place for the Holy Spirit
The RIVER has been written and produced by Phil Hulks, and has come out of his own personal encounter with Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit over the last 20 years.
Phil's passion is to see mission come out of intimacy, as a natural overflow of what God has done in us.
Each morning, the RIVER will take you on a journey of going deeper in your relationship with God, through a variety of experiences including worship, teaching, opportunities to receive ministry, discussion groups and time to just soak in God's river. Then in the afternoon we will turn the focus outward, exploring practical ways we can give away what we have encountered to people in the community.
We will also ask God to speak to us about the town or city we are in. On the first afternoon we will go down to the river (if there is one), to explore the significance of the river in the town's history and ask whether there is anything specific that God is saying to the church today. These are usually very special moments and often result in fresh prophetic insight being released.

"Inspiring, insightful teaching which has opened the way for deep encounters with God, authentic fellowship and fresh impetus to see other's lives touched with His tender love."

"Paddling, wading, swimming - an amazing time of bathing in God's presence with his people."
"Spirit inspired, gentle, informative and equipping time spent in the RIVER."
Who is the RIVER for?
The RIVER works well for groups of between 15 and 30 people, ideally from different churches in the area and those who carry a wider vision for what God is doing across the town or city. It is helpful if this group could include intercessors, evangelists (particularly those involved in cross church mission, such as Street Pastors, CAP, Healing on the Streets etc), youth workers and young people.
None of the above, however, is a prerequisite for hosting the RIVER. We recognise that God is always doing different things at different times in different places, so always want allow the local leaders hosting the RIVER to shape and speak into who should be invited.
How much does the RIVER cost?
The RIVER is free of charge to those hosting and to those attending and includes refreshments and lunch every day, and a banquet on the final evening.
There is, however, an opportunity and an encouragement for people attending the RIVER to give. The gift will go towards the costs of taking the River to the next city - on a 'pay it forward' basis ("Freely we receive, freely we give"). Prior to the start of the RIVER, those attending are asked to prayerfully consider what they should give, and an opportunity is then created during the four days of the RIVER for people to respond.
Operating this way, ensures that finance is never a reason why some people are unable to attend.
What is required in hosting the RIVER?
You will need to provide a suitable venue with kitchen facilities.
You will also need to provide accommodation for two people, (Phil Hulks and a caterer).
If you are able to provide a worship leader for each morning, that would be very much appreciated, but not essential.
You will also need to be involved in the shaping, and setting up, of any outreach activities we decide to do in the afternoons.
In addition to this, you will need to decide who to invite and send out the invitations. We can provide online booking facilities if required.
